According to New York Times, The first YouTube Music Awards, which took place on Sunday evening at Pier 36 in Manhattan and was streamed live on youtube.com, was something different. This was a show of essentially no importance, but also one that effectively embraced the values of the post-hierarchical creative ecosystem of the Internet: a theoretically equal playing field, risk taking, resilience in the face of failure, evanescence.
