A Cristiano Ronaldo free kick during Real Madrid' 6-0 win at Bournemouth to start their preseason broke the wrist of an 11-year-old fan in two place. Though Ronaldo went on to score twice, one of his trademark free kicks early on in the match went just over the crossbar and hit young Charlie Silverwood on the arm (thanks, in part, to his dad ducking instead of trying to shield his son from the rocket ball).

According to The Sun, Charlie didn't want to miss the rest of the game, so he toughed it out and stayed for the remaining 84 minutes before going to the hospital for X-rays that showed a double fracture. He then required an operation before being put in a cast that will stay on for the entirety of his six-week summer break.

“It was very painful," Charlie told The Sun. "I’ve told friends and they cannot believe it. Ronaldo is the world’s most expensive player — and he broke my arm.” OK. Ronaldo probably won't appreciate Charlie explaining the incident in that way. Especially to the newspapers.
Ronaldo and Real Madrid did send the boy a shirt signed by the entire team while Bournemouth added an autographed ball as a goodwill gesture.
