Johnson is now the top-earning movie star of Hollywood.
Robert Downey Jr. is no longer the highest-earning actor in Hollywood, Topping Forbes's new list of the top-grossing actors of 2013, Johnson's star vehicles – which included the action flicks Snitch, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain and Fast & Furious 6 – took in a combined $1.3 billion in global ticket sales and cemented his place as this year's most bankable movie star.
Downey Jr. – who topped last year's list of highest-grossing movie stars thanks to the hugely successful The Avengers – came in a close second to Johnson this year, despite starring in Iron Man 3, the top-earning movie of 2013, which raked in $1.2 billion.
Also making Forbes's list were Steve Carell, whose film Despicable Me 2 was the second highest-grossing film at the domestic box office this year with $919 million, and Sandra Bullock, whose roles in the Golden Globe-nominated Gravity and the summer comedy The Heat earned a combined $862 million.
Johnson's Fast & Furious costars Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker also made the list for their work in the franchise's biggest hit yet, which made $789 million internationally.
Johnson is expected to have another big year in 2014 with starring roles in the next Fast & Furious movie, as well as Brett Ratner's highly anticipated Hercules.
