Suicide attack hits Tunisia town

Police said that a man blew himself up, my God.

According to Aljazeera, The official Tunisian news agency says a man has blown himself up in front of a hotel in a Mediterranean resort town.

The TAP news agency on Wednesday said the man, wearing a belt of explosives, was killed. It was not clear if other people were hurt or killed in the explosion in the town of Sousse, about 150km south of the capital, Tunis.

Sousse is a frequent destination for tourists.

Tunisia has been battling unrest since the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's regime in 2011, and has seen the rise of self-declared jihadist movements.

In October alone, nine members of the security forces have been killed in clashes with what the government calls "terrorist" groups.

The unrest is particularly worrying because Tunisia, whose revolution inspired many others in the region, is often seen as a model for its neighbours.
